CUEFA : Activism

We are a member of CAUT (Canadian Association of University Teachers), the national voice for academic staff, and as such, stand in solidarity with other faculty associations across Canada. We greatly appreciated all who stood with us and supported us in our fight for a new and fair deal. We invite you to make your voice heard and support faculty associations who are now in similar positions to where we were. #SolidarityIsAVerb

CUEFA congratulates CUPE education workers in Ontario.

November 7, 2022

CUEFA congratulates and thanks CUPE education workers in Ontario for their recent success in forcing the Ontario government to repeal legislation designed to override the rights of workers to strike and bargain collectively.

CUEFA knows the importance of using good faith bargaining and the right to strike to improve the working conditions of teachers and the learning conditions of students. The proposed legislation threatened to strip CUPE workers of those rights, setting a precedent that would have negatively affected labour unions across Canada and the workplaces they serve.

CUPE’s success in mobilizing opposition to this legislation underlines the importance of collective labour action for the preservation of worker rights in Canada.
